Man
in the Mirror Part 2

I looked into the mirror and I saw something.
I saw this person who was physically smiling but
mentally taken back by life.
Will the things that make life easier get back right
with just a fight?
Or will it diminish with that light that was supposed
to shine so bright
So many people want to see you fail, and even open
those flood gates of hell
Well, I only imagined that it would eventually prevail
When I thought about putting my soul up for sell.
But then I would just pray to make these feelings go
away
And they always tend to stray back into my life
Through the constant reminders that I am not like
those who are around me
Can’t you see, that person in mirror is a reflection
of misery
The damage that could never be repaired
Because people failed to show that they cared
That person in the mirror is numb to the things that
are thrown his way
At times the person wants revenge and want the others
to pay
But we all know that is not ok
Because the way the world works it will never take
that pain away
The person in this mirror feels like the world is
blinded by those people
Who are only favored for doing wrong
Putting on masks to look one way while being tagged
along
Receiving these blessings knowing on the inside
That they do evil, malicious things and do it with
pride
The person in the mirror often questions those things
Because they always get rewarded with the fancy bling
It doesn’t have to be cars, clothes, and shoes
It could be jobs, promotions, perks or even other dues
The person in the mirror smiles everyday
But inside they lose hope because he feels it will
never be ok
But one day, I pray that this world will see
That the person is stronger than people assume he can
be
We often lose ourselves trying to do the right things
to others
And symbolize peace but we could never love one
another
And that’s what the person in the mirror always sees
That the thing called peace amongst each other was
never the African American Dream
But enough of that let’s get back to those screams
That shatter the mirror in the next couple of scenes
The person in mirror always smiles on the outside
Because that thing called pride eats him alive on the
inside
Never felt confident to open up to people
Because things in life often become a sequel
Of hate, fake love, and other failed notions
Which causes him to not have those feelings or
emotions
To open up to the people who are considered his peers
Because of the lack of compassion received in these
past few years
In the mirror there was low self-esteem, a lack of
sense of this thing called life
Not knowing things could possibly be alright
Often judged because the color of the skin, the brains
that he possesses, the love that he has within
Loves to help people but the people stabbed him in the
back.
Thrown off by it all, that he loses track
Of the fact that everyone you encounter are not who
they claim to be
Walking around with pride like they are doing great
things
Everyone around them loves them because they are
blinded by the obvious things that are seen
The person in the mirror wanted to believe that he had
purpose and had light
But at times he always thinks it would be better if he
took his own life
But an angel once told him, never think about these
things
And she found something in his heart to make him sing
This song of truth that will make him feel better
And it helped to make him think about the rest of his
life forever
But he still had those mixed emotions because he lived
in that mirror
He was isolated, frustrated, upset, and confused
About why these things happen to really good dudes
He went through so much that people will never
understand
Why he is the way that he is and that is what makes
him a man
It motivated him to do it all by himself
Without any inspiration or the need of help
The man in the mirror took that pain
And put it in a big ball of something he would gain
The things he heard on the other side of the mirror
Made him see a lot of things clearer
So for the people who had to judge the man in the
mirror based on the lies from other people
Who didn’t even care or made him feel like he didn’t matter
Just know you are the reason why the mirror shattered
